Welcome!
Welcome to the website for instructors of EN 101 Composition I - the first course in Marymount's first year composition program. Composition I focuses on the reading, writing, critical thinking, and research skills that students need to participate effectively in civic discussions and debates (Composition II will focus on academic literacy). As the subject of their reading, writing, and research, students will focus on public issues of some local significance, possibly including higher education, the environment, local food, and multiculturalism. The course explores these issues important to the D.C. metro area through first-hand research and through an examination of new and traditional media. The course culminates in a project that contributes to the public discussion of a topic.
