Peer Review Of Essay IV

Class sits in a circle and passes their draft to the right. Time it so that every 10 minutes (or when writing slows down) students pass the draft to their right. Students can write marginal comments about what is persuasive, where they are confused, what needs more evidence, what ideas they find interesting, etc. They can also comment on the other comments - noting where they disagree or agree with previous commentators. They write (and sign) their name below an end comment of 3 or more sentences that suggest what the writer's next steps should be in revision.

Students should get and give feedback to 4-5 students.

Only students who have drafts can participate in the round robin (otherwise a student is left sitting there without a draft to comment on for 10 minutes). Students who don't have drafts can work together with the instructor in drafting group or you could have prepared students to send a second copy of their draft around (so if three students are unprepared, three students could send a second copy of their draft around and teh unprepared students can participate in the round robin). The instructor can participate in the round robin if he or she has a draft or if a student volunteers to send a second copy of their draft around.
